Dental implants are basically teeth replacements. We can replace just one tooth, or we can replace your whole arch often in just one day. In order for someone to have a dental implant, first, you will need to come in for a consultation. We need to take a 3-D image of your jaw to see how much bone you have. We also make an assessment of how the final tooth you would want look like. This depends on how many teeth you need to replace. Early stages of the implants takes place well before the placement day, sometimes weeks before. How we do it in this office is that when someone wants a dental implant, we plan on placing the implant as well as placing the crown that goes over the implant. Where some of the offices may refer you to someone who will place the implant and then another dentist will place the crown that goes over the implant. Procedure could be as fast as half an hour. Sometimes full arch teeth replacements can be a few hours. But most of the time, it's under one hour. Using a dental implant to replace teeth provides stimulation to the bone that the tooth used to occupy. This holds the bone and gum up to the adjacent teeth as well. And this limits resorption and future problems from the loss of a tooth. People are always amazed of how little discomfort and how good an implant looks. It is almost lifelike. It's almost the original thing.
