Same-day Crowns Restore Teeth in One Appointment
If your tooth has been treated for decay or trauma, it is essential that it is restored to its full strength as quickly as possible. The Elements Dental team is dedicated to providing our patients with timely solutions that protect their oral health. Equipped with an in-office CEREC® milling machine, our practice has invested in the latest technology to provide patients with high-quality dental crowns in a single visit at our Victoria, BC, office. During your appointment, Dr. Ray T. Chow, Dr. Elysa Kliman, and Dr. Alex Kim can plan, fabricate, and place your custom same-day crown.
The Benefits of a Same-day Crown
Receiving a same-day crown provides several advantages over a traditional dental crown, including convenience, high-quality aesthetics, and the ability to complete emergency repairs.
Your time is valuable to us. We understand that most patients have a busy schedule, and that scheduling and attending several dental appointments for a single issue can be overwhelming. As such, we have streamlined the dental crown process by using the latest technology to fabricate your dental crown in about one hour.
Same-day crowns are created using dental porcelain which yields highly realistic results. Your tooth-colored dental crown will be color-matched to the surrounding teeth for seamless integration into your smile. Same-day crowns are also often used as a cosmetic treatment due to their aesthetic qualities.
If your current dental crown fails, we can provide a quick replacement. Unlike traditional treatment, you will not need to wear a temporary crown between appointments. A same-day crown provides immediate repair for uninterrupted, reliable protection for your compromised tooth.
We use the CEREC® system to design and create your dental crown onsite. CEREC employs sophisticated computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) to complete every aspect of dental crown fabrication. With this system, we can customize the size, shape, and color of your dental crown.
The Treatment Process
To begin, the damaged areas of the tooth will be treated. Some of the external tooth structure will then be removed, which allows the dental crown to fit between the neighboring teeth. Next, we will take detailed digital impressions using CEREC 3D imaging capabilities.
We strive to stay abreast of the latest developments that will provide our patients with the best possible dental experience.
Digital impressions alleviate the need for messy materials. These impressions will be used to design your crown for a comfortable, secure fit and optimal aesthetics. After a short wait in our reception area, we will place your dental crown using a strong dental cement for secure restoration.
Repairing and Replacing Teeth
When Is a Traditional Crown Necessary?
While same-day crowns offer many benefits, sometimes a traditional dental crown may be better suited to your needs. Depending on the material required for your crown, it may need to be fabricated at an offsite lab. For instance, patients suffering from bruxism or temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD) may require a stronger material that can withstand excessive stress and wear. During your consultation, the doctor will complete a comprehensive evaluation and discuss your goals to determine the best solution for you.
