Discreetly Straighten Your Smilewith Clear Aligners

Uneven or crooked teeth can detract from the beauty of your smile. However, many patients are apprehensive about undergoing orthodontic treatment due to the noticeable brackets and wires. If you have avoided straightening your teeth for these reasons, clear aligners may be the right treatment for you. Not only do they offer an inconspicuous solution, they are also more comfortable and can be removed, making eating and cleaning teeth much easier. Elements Dental in Victoria, BC, offers both Invisalign® and ClearCorrect® to help patients discreetly align their smile. Dr. Ray T. Chow, Dr. Elysa Kliman, and Dr. Alex Kim are dedicated to helping you achieve your goals and will help you plan your treatment to correct malocclusion effectively and efficiently.

How Do Clear Aligners Work?

Instead of wearing wires and brackets for the duration of treatment, you will receive sets of clear trays that will be worn for several weeks. Once a series is complete, you will wear a new set of aligners, specially designed to progress the movement of your teeth into the proper position. Your trays must be worn 20 to 22 hours each day to keep your treatment on track.

Planning Your Treatment

At our practice, we use the latest technology to provide our patients with exceptional results. Tools such as digital impressions and x-rays are especially important during the planning process to ensure we are able to straighten your smile with the fewest sets of trays possible. We often use our computed tomography (CT) scanner to fully evaluate your bite to determine which orthodontic treatment is best for you and what exact movements are needed to achieve your goals.

Treatment Timeline

Typically, the average treatment timeline using clear aligners is about one year. However, every case is unique, which can increase or decrease this estimate. If you only need small adjustments, you may only need to wear your trays for a few months.

What Are the Benefits?

Similar to other orthodontic options, the greatest benefit of clear aligners is usually the boost in self-confidence patients feel when they are happy with their smile. In addition, using clear aligners to straighten your smile can offer the following advantages:

Discreet treatment
Clear aligners are nearly invisible trays made from BPA-free plastic. As such, clear aligners are significantly less noticeable than brackets and wires.
Improved comfort
Wires and brackets can be rough or uncomfortable, which can irritate the lips and gums. The smooth plastic used for aligners is more comfortable and reduces the risk of injury during activities such as contact sports.
Convenience
These removable trays enable you to smile naturally at special events. Also, while you would have to worry about sticky or hard foods when wearing braces, you can eat whatever you like with clear aligners if you take them off during meals.
Improved oral hygiene
With braces, it can be difficult to reach around your appliances. Temporarily removing your clear aligners allows you to thoroughly clean teeth and gums to prevent gum disease and decay.

Not only are clear aligners discreet, they are comfortable and can be removed, making eating and cleaning teeth much easier.

Are Clear Aligners Right for You?

Clear aligners can correct a variety of issues such as:

  • Overbite
  • Underbite
  • Overcrowding
  • Crossbite
  • Gapped teeth
  • Open bite

However, while they offer many benefits, they are not the best solution for every patient. If you are suffering from severe malocclusion, the doctor may recommend Tip-Edge Orthodontics or other orthodontic treatment.
